How to Catch an Heiress (Heiress Series, #1)How to Catch an Heiress by Natalie Rios
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This review is for “How to Catch an Heiress” by Natalie Rios

Natalie Rios' “How to Catch an Heiress” is supposedly her “debut” novel… Yeah right! I don't think so. I have the feeling she's published under another name at some point before. ;) This novel was a pleasure to read, and here's how she got the 5-stars…

Plot: I know what you're thinking... “Oh great, another wake up in Vegas, married but don't remember, and then they fall in love for real, story” – sure, that's the premise, but add in his penniless pockets and her diamond studded toothbrush, and now it might really be good – right? No? Okay, let's go with maybe it is unoriginal, so far – but so are most contemporary romances. For a solid plot, including believable motives, that add depth = 1-star.

Characters: Not interested yet? Okay, take away all of that… and try this instead: Being a strong hurricane – force type of woman myself, I can greatly appreciate the sarcasm and wit and badassery of Liz. Regardless of what the outside world thinks, her life isn't perfect due to her breeding, and she doesn't just get what she wants or gets treated well because she's rich. Her family sucks, her love life sucks, hell, even her trip to Vegas sucked – until… duh, duh, duh! Enter the unlikely hero, Anthony. Broke. Broken. Ballsy, as needed. My kind of guy! His best feature? He's a nerd. A nerd with dimples and the ability to describe things in ways you wouldn't think guys spoke – unless of course, you were lucky enough to marry a nerd (mine doesn't have dimples, but, he has other sexy qualities!) = 1-star.

The Writing: Do I have your attention, yet? What if I told you that the writing exceeded my expectations? Okay, big deal… for a (debatably) first novel, the expectations are usually – “can I at least get through it/hope it doesn't suck,” right? Well, it not only didn't suck, and I didn't just “get through it,” I flew! It was an incredibly smooth flowing ride, transitioning easily between Liz and Anthony's first person PO V, that I finished quickly in one sitting. I might type slow, but I am (thankfully) a speed reader. My favorite part? Great editing, little to none mistakes. = 1-star

In Case You Wanted to Know: Interested, now? Well, let me add that the sex scenes are hot, not horribly descriptive, but definitely graphic. In other words, you see what's happening. There's language use that is to me, realistic – F*bombs and M.I.T. smart words, so be prepared. Of course, like I said, he's a nerd, and she's an HBIC, so what do you expect? Excellent dialogue? But of course, me too! That's one of the highlights that truly sets this book high on my “bookshelf.” The banter between these two is funny and just like a Tommy gun… non-stop, back-and-forth. = 1-star

Overall: Lesson: How do you catch a “Stellar” girl? I'm sorry, I mean, an Heiress? You gotta be a nerdy guy, a shy guy, but a “knock another man out if he even looks cross-eyed at my goddess and it offends her,” type of guy. Heart of gold works too. And being an a –hole sometimes just makes Mr. Perfect, more down to earth and easy to purchase. Loved this book! Natalie Rios – great job! = 1-star.

Well-deserved Total= 5-stars, all the way!

    Why do reviews?

Well, I own over 6000 books.
Most of them are non-fiction, since I have an obsession with knowledge.
But oh, how I love a good story.
I've decided to devote an entire Blog, just for books.

Here, you will find book reviews for Fiction, in almost every genre.
I'll also be sharing reviews for the too many to count
Nonfiction books I am constantly dumping into my head.
As well as Announcements etc. for New Releases
    from fellow authors.

How do I decide what rating...

For Fiction books, it's either a 5, 4, or a 3-star. That's it. If it doesn't qualify for at least a  3-star rating, I will NOT post that kind of a review. I either REALLY loved/liked it and it was written well, regardless if it wasn't something "up my alley" so-to-speak, OR it was okay, but could have used some more details, or fix the plot holes, etc. I WILL NOT rate low for spelling and/or grammar, editing mistakes. If they are plentiful, I will send the author a polite email to let them know. Hopefully the author will listen and address the problems.

For Nonfiction, sorry, but here I have to be a bit more discerning. I will rate 1-5 stars, according to the layout of the information, the quality of the information, as well as any editing mistakes, etc. I personally feel that a Nonfiction book is there to provide information, and if it is not delivered in a clear and concise manner, too much confusion will ensue and cause potentially horrible embarrassments or even fatal mistakes.
